The Lozells.info website has written about their local youth forum which is working in schools to talk to pupils about the neighbourhood. Kate Foley writes:
As part of Local Democracy Week the Perry Barr Youth Forum are visiting a number of schools in Lozells. On Tuesday and Wednesday they are visiting Heathfield, Lozells and Mayfield Schools and on Friday they go to Holte School.
The Youth Forum are presenting during a 15 minute school assembly where they:
- Tell the young people who they are and what they do
- Ask them if they know what Local Democracy Week is
- Ask them questions about the local area and what they would like to see change and improve
At the end of the assembly the Youth Forum collect all the opinions from the young people in the schools and these will then be put together as a report which can help your Neighbourhood Management Board to improve services in the local area
This project is being filmed and the footage should be available on this site soon.

I visited the schools last week and found it very interesting as we learnt about childrens view on their community. It helped us consider what really needed improving in Lozells. I think the project was a great success, we received all types of information from many young people who wanted to express an opinion. These views helped form our giant wall; the product of the project. It was very fulfilling to work with the young people as well as my own youth group.
Thanks for the comment Pavan. If you have any material from this project on the internet leave a comment here with the link.
Me too. I have loads of good material. This looks really good. I like what you’re doing. I’m proud of you Nick!:)
