Matthew Ebo interviews Rob Clarke from Parents and Children Together (PACT) about the impact that mentoring young people can have, particularly in disadvantaged communities. PACT, a registered charity, is based in Small Heath and works with young people aged between 9 and 16 years old, aiming to support them and also their parents in order to benefit the whole family group.

The goal of the project is to help the young people they work with move into jobs or further education, as a way of opening up opportunities for them in life.

Pool of Memories Day at Moseley Road Baths

Since its centenary, local residents and Friends of Moseley Road Baths have been celebrating the baths’ history with their Pool of Memories project. It aims to maintain an archive of stories and artifacts which are part of the location’s rich heritage as a central part of the community.

During Local Democracy Week the Pool of Memories event will be held at Balsall Heath Church Centre, on Mary Street. There will be a guest speaker from Victoria Baths in Manchester, and also a talk from Steve Beauchampe of the Friends of Moseley Road Baths group.

You can book a tour of the baths but a very limited number of places are available. Bookings should be made via email by contacting Rachel Gillies, or via telephone on 07967 093 256. For more information about tours and the event in general click here.
